RAPPING
I’ve been in love with Hip Hop since I was old enough to ride around in the car with my dad while I lived in the golden age of Hip Hop vicariously through him. I first started rhyming when I would freestyle for my mom on the way back home form school and made my first songs after I saw the homie Sterling Duns perform live at my school auditorium. Hip Hop has been a part of my life since as long as I can remember so it no surprise I dove in even deeper once I realized I was a Creative.

Fulton Street Folklore
This annotated Hip-Hip album was created for my Senior Thesis Project in high school. Inspired by the recording of African American folklore by the great Zora Neale Hurston, I recorded songs and accompanying skits to record my view on a particular street in Brooklyn. The story includes different views of people living in Brooklyn, all with different ages, heritages, socio-economic status, race, gender, etc. Fulton Street Folklore is a recording of what I know Brooklyn to be, what I (regrettably) missed it being, and what I see it becoming.
In order to bring this written and recorded project to life, I produced an one night only immersive experience for community members at my school. The audience sat in chairs in the blackbox theater, and listened to the skits and songs chronologically while an automatic slideshow of relevant images was projected in front of them.
The best way to experience this project is to listen to the audio file, while reading along in the pages. Additionally, if it intrigues you, there are a ton of footnotes that include more insight into my personal experience as an artists and a resident of Brooklyn myself.
